Renovation concepts for a Haussmann building

Open design competition

Delivered on behalf of a private client, this competition proposal focused on a forthcoming major office renovation within a traditional Haussmann building – located in a historically significant area of Paris.

The starting point for the project was to reconnect the existing construction and its internal courtyard with the surrounding city – while also providing several high-quality workspaces which promote a positive and healthy working environment.

RBA embraced the challenge of remaining sympathetic to the historical characteristics of the building, and therefore sought to emphasise the existing features while clarifying the key circulation routes through the various spaces.

A key aspect of the proposal was a roof level extension, designed to improve circulation between storeys while increasing the size and flexibility of office areas. As such, a global environmental strategy was integrated throughout the project in a bid to foster ecologically sound workspaces in the centre of Paris.

The final proposition included a green courtyard, extended balconies, and a roof level terrace to maximise on the stunning views of the iconic Parisian urban landscaping outside, thus allowing the project to seamlessly blend into its prestigious context.
