Steinway & Sons showroom, Paris

Combining heritage and modernity in central Paris

Iconic piano manufacturer Steinway & Sons desired to renovate a stunning 19th Century building for use as its first showroom in Europe for 140 years.

The refurbishment needed to respect the heritage of the building and its Boulevard St Germain location while providing modern space with the specific environmental conditions from which to showcase its world-class instruments.

In addition to the showroom, the client requested rehearsal spaces for visiting artists and music academy students and a 50-seat recital hall.

Reid Brewin Architects combined the latest technical features with bespoke LED lighting arrangements, spiral staircases and glazed balustrades to create a bright, convivial setting where musicians and the public can come together to celebrate music, culture and wonderful design.
