Localised expertise for Brompton Bicycles
With over 1,450 official Brompton dealers worldwide, the English bicycle manufacturer was looking to open its newest flagship store at the end of the Rue de Rivoli – a street in central Paris, France.
Located close to the Louvre Museum and forming part of a wider commercial street – which meant calling leading fashion brands its neighbours – kerb appeal was key when it came to drawing the eye of passers-by.
Working closely with Brompton Bicycles’ interior designer, the Reid Brewin Architects team was commissioned to assist in bringing the project to life – by obtaining the necessary permits, ensuring compliance with French regulations, and managing the works on site.
From the simplistic wooden façade, through to the black and yellow anti-slip floor treatment designed to represent road markings, the store perfectly encapsulates the simple-yet-innovative idea behind the original Brompton folding bike.
The ground floor is home to a sales area and repair shop, while a basement level – accessible only to employees – offers further storage, staff facilities, and a second workshop for more intricate repairs.
By stripping the interior back to its original bricks and mortar, the space has taken on an industrial warehouse feel – providing the ideal backdrop for bikes and accessories to be displayed.

The unique Brompton folding bike was designed and built in London in 1975 by Andrew Ritchie in his flat in South Kensington opposite the Brompton Oratory. Still made in London today, Brompton is the UK’s largest bike manufacturer. Read more about our history.
