The standard ISO 9001 is part of a series of standards ISO 9000 which provides a number of requirements which an organization needs to fulfil in order to achieve customer satisfaction through consistent products and services which meet customer expectations. It’s a response to an increasingly pressing demand for standardisation within the European context, within public works and with public and private clients.
RB-Architects was certified ISO 9001:2008 in May 2010 with LRQA. This means working with a consultant, in our case ICMS, on improving the functioning of the office. The research we are undertaking will help us to improve on the following:
- formalising information in writing whenever necessary
- monitoring processes to ensure that they are effective
- facilitating continual improvement
- working for the satisfaction of our clients
- focusing on eliminating time wasted
We are very grateful to LRQA for the thoughtful contribution they made during the audit of the practice in April 2010.
The objective for us is to improve the efficiency and quality of our service. Our collaborators are ready to take into account these improvements in their daily work. It will also benefit exchanges with our partners: clients and contractors, and serve as a way to facilitate open dialogue with other architects.
Certification is especially pertinent when it comes to working in conjunction with our collaborators in establishing their needs and requirements. There are many training sessions as well as constant consultation during the certification period. Certification is not an end in itself but a way of improving. It represents for RB-Architects a serious engagement for the satisfaction of our clients and of our real interest in quality management.
